Making Music Meaningful with Conversational Solfege Training!
I need the registration fee and materials for a training in the Conversational Solfege curriculum to help my students reach their potential as musicians.
I teach music to students in kindergarten through 5th grade. My students are excited to learn about music! Our school houses more than 1200 students coming from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They make connections to each other, the community and world through music.
My students love to sing, dance and play instruments as we explore music.
They are natural musicians and they greet each new experience with enthusiasm. My students learn best when they have hands on experiences in music.
My Project
I have the opportunity to attend a special training in Conversational Solfege with the creator, Dr. John Feierabend. I was fortunate to receive my First Steps in Music training with him last summer. First Steps in Music is aimed at infants, toddlers and primary students. The strategies I learned from Dr. Feierabend have transformed music for my K-1 students. Conversational Solfege is the next step for these students.
Conversational Solfege is a research based method designed to teach students to be well rounded, literate musicians.
I am excited about the opportunity to learn new strategies to meet the needs of my 2nd - 5th grade students. Taking the training directly from Dr. Feierabend makes the experience even more meaningful. I was so impressed with my First Steps in Music training last summer. His presents developmentally appropriate strategies in a way that makes transferring them to my classroom easy. His use of research based examples further solidified my understanding of why these strategies work and are important to the development of every child. I've been looking forward to taking Conversational Solfege with Dr. Feierabend to continue growing professionally so I can better meet the needs of my students.
