My Students

I teach in a Title I elementary school on the south side of Wichita, KS. It is a pre-k through fifth grade building that serves around five hundred and sixty students. I'm located in the heart of the school, the library.

Many of the students at my school don't have access to books or an inviting reading environment at home.

I love curling up at home on a comfy chair in a quiet room to read a good book. I want my students to experience that same feeling when they come to my library.

My Project

One of the things we do in our library is learn about coding. Students learning the power of coding will be able to do so in many different jobs in the future.

Dash and Dot are an amazing way to teach coding!

My students will be able to put the code into their Chromebooks and make the robot move around the room or play a xylophone.

Students being able to see how the code input into a computer creates an output on the robot is so powerful. It will give them a grasp on the coding concepts that they won't be able to get without these materials.
