Ms. Barrymore from Chicago IL is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need diatonic instruments to begin their studies in Orff methodology. Learning on these diatonic instruments will prepare them for their recorder and concert band programs, also offered at our school.

The students at my school are truly special. They face immense adversity outside of the school building yet they come to school, eager to learn, and ready for the next challenge. Music has become an outlet for our students and they impress us by expressing their individualism and their confidence that comes from learning a new instrument.
Our Students teach me something new every day through their enthusiasm, charisma and character.
I am incredibly fortunate to have these students in my life! I am looking forward to giving back to them as much as they bring to my life daily.
Hello! Thank you for taking time to look at our project. My music students are ready for the next challenge. That challenge is to learn how to play diatonic instruments, as an ensemble, using Orff methodology as a guideline. These instruments will add onto a collection of already gathered non pitched instruments and glockenspiels to increase our ensemble size potential. To start this ensemble we need an Alto Glockenspiel, Soprano Glockenspiel and an Alto Xylophone. And this is just the beginning!
"Tell me, I forget; show me, I remember; involve me, I understand."- Carl Orff.
Students will work together in small groups to help each other, building teamwork. They will also have a platform to express their creativity with a highly focused skill.
Our school prides itself in building character amongst all the students and adults in the building. We believe building character traits is a platform for success. Music in our community helps with critical thinking, collaboration, compassion and countless other traits. It is celebrated as an art form and integrated into classroom learning.
We have rolled out a recorder program for 3rd and 4th graders and we have grown and sustained an amazing band program for the 5th-8th graders. It is now time to introduce more diatonic instruments to the younger grades.
We are ready for the next building block in our music curriculum!
