This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I remember learning my times tables in primary school, a loud constant chant... 1X2=2, 2X2=4, 2X3=6, 2X4=8, 2X5=10! THe sing songy repetition has stuck with me. I also remember writing them out over and over again in my college ruled notebook.

I admit, it felt like a dull, boring, basic chore at the time, but there’s no doubt that times tables provide quick solutions to a range of mathematical problems.

Being able to quickly recall times tables is a must in third grade. It is the foundation for a each child’s mathematical understanding throughout the remainder of their years as a student.

Please help me help my students! With the games I'd like to incorporate into our weekly math lessons each student will: learn basic times tables fluently, they will grow in confidence, which will not only help them tackle more challenging math problems, but will help keep them motivated and engaged across other subjects, improve memory skills, and make mental math easier!
