Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When my second grade students enter my classroom, they come to me with a broad spectrum of learning styles and abilities. As a teacher I want my students to see their full potential, regardless of what background the come from.
I teach in a high poverty school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many students come from homes were resources are limited and where English is a second language. They are eager to learn and need a variety of ways to learn.
My Project
I have a very active group of students, and as years go by, they only seem to get more active. I have seen the impact that flexible seating has had in classrooms of all ages, and it is extremely beneficial. I have read articles on the pros and cons, reached out to fellow educators on what they like or don't like, and looked into which options are the cleanliest. The products I've chosen have come with high recommendations from many others- both educators and students alike.
Flexible seating not only helps students get out a little energy, but also helps teach lessons in responsibility, accountability, and decision making.
In my classroom, I teach classroom values instead of "rules." With flexible seating options, students will have access to many different decision making choices during the day. All of these flexible seating options will help students in my classroom become successful students. Teaching students to self-manage and make choice that help them learn in the best way possible.
