The students from my school are a diverse group who come from a variety of homes. The families help out as much as possible, but we are still in need of many items to help these third graders be successful.
Every day my students come to school with a positive attitude and strive to do their best.
Can you ask for anything more? They are helpful towards their classmates and are eager to learn. I can only hope that I can help shape these life long learners to take on the world!
My Project
Students will be able to play games using a variety of dice and use the Rekenrek counting racks to help them build their math skills. Students will play games, learning how to combine numbers in a variety of ways. This skill of structuring numbers is very important for students to add and subtract. Students will also be able to use the dice to practice their multiplication and division facts, which are essential in third grade.
Not only will students be engaged by playing games, the students will also use their whiteboards and erasers to solve problems in our daily number talk.
This number talk is the backbone of mathematical learning. It not only allows students to practice certain strategies and be exposed to a variety of problems, but it creates a class discussion of how the problems are solved. This class discussion allows students to learn from each other and discover math strategies we will use the rest of the year in class!
