My Students
My classroom consists of 20 eager students who are passionate and driven to learn. I'm looking to build strong literacy skills in my scholars so they have strong foundational skills on which to build in years to come.
Hurricane Maria has greatly impacted our school community.
There are several students who are learning a new language for the first time. I need the necessary tools to help bridge those language gaps and become a more effective teacher for those students.
My school has one of the largest bilingual populations in Orange County. We have welcomed many displaced students from Puerto Rico. Many students are learning and reading in English for the first time.
My Project
I am requesting several financial literacy and math games (Roll & Solve Math and Are You Ready for 1st Grade?) to help my students develop an understanding of money and basic finance. By introducing students to basic financial literacy such as coin and dollar values, they are able to connect what they learn to the real world environment.
Knowing the value of money is an essential life skill that can never be introduced too early.
I would like to equip my students with the skills they need to be successful not only as they progress in education but also in life.
The phonics learning center will reinforce literacy skills as well as basic finance as reading is also essential to knowing how to read labels and price tags.
