Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school library is home to a very diverse population of students. We have the opportunity to teach children from all over the world, from such places as Tibet, Nepal, China, South America, Europe, and the United States. Students vary in academic ability levels including English language learners, special education, on grade, and honors placement. In order to meet the needs of all students, we try to collaborate and incorporate various methods of teaching in the library and all subject areas.
My Project
Students come to the library media center to read, relax, complete academic assignments and projects, create, explore and to have fun. They often use the library space as a place to refocus and re-energize during their school day.
Having two sets of Magnatiles in clear storage containers readily available in the library will enable students to use their time to create and construct.
Magnatiles are colorful, translucent, magnetic, and simple to use. Students can spend their time with the Magnatiles creating artistic works or developing geometric structures. They can work independently on their own creations or with a small group to enhance their imaginations and learning experience.
