I teach seniors who are required to pass a math class as a graduation requirement. Most of them don't list math as their favorite subject and some haven't seen a lot of success in their math pathway. They are super fun kids who have a lot of talent and potential in many areas of life.
It's fun to see them succeed where they didn't think they could!
They CAN be successful in math even though it's not their favorite subject!
My Project
I love math, but I know not everyone does. I have a group of fun students who haven't always had the success in math some of us have experienced. I've built a math curriculum based around projects, many of them art, that integrate the concepts we are learning in a way that hopefully makes math a little less boring (their words, not mine)! It's been really fun to see students succeed in an area they didn't think they could - please help us with some of the supplies we need to make our class successful!! With these supplies we'll be using sticky graph paper to model our equations and categorize types of graphs, colored paper and card stock to construct diagrams and presentations so students can explain to others what they've learned.
