Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I school on the outskirts of town. This school has amazing families and students; however, financially, many of them struggle. My students are hard working and excited to learn. This year, more than half of my students are English language learners. This can create some challenges in learning, but they are persevering and working hard to learn more and more each day. They love to read and are excited when new books are introduced. My students are respectful and responsible. They are awesome!
My Project
My second graders need more hands on manipulatives and games to enhance their learning. These games and supplies will help boost their mathematical skills and help them to practice the new math concepts in a fun and engaging way. The math file folder games will allow students to practice all 2nd grade standards and give access to 3rd grade materials for more advanced learners. The addition and subtraction regrouping/borrowing boards will help students to get hands on and visual practice with one of the most important 2nd grade standards which will strengthen their understanding of base 10. These manipulatives and games will help students to continually review and practice their math standards and new concepts to help create more confident and proficient mathematicians.
