Making Mathematicians With Math Manipulatives

Help me give my students math manipulatives to help close the learning gap due to Covid-19.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school in Detroit. Despite their environment, my students are eager, willing, and love to learn. They are more than able to achieve, and they just need the proper motivation and supplies. They need someone to believe in them and push them beyond their own expectations. My students score low on most state tests and have high absence rates. However, they try so hard to overcome their environment. They need that extra push, that extra effort. They need to know they matter.

What I love most about this class is that they see school as a haven.

This is the one place where they can be a kid and enjoy their childhood. I believe children want to learn. It is up to us to help them.

My Project

Due to the devastating impact of Covid-19, students have lost precious learning time in their education. It is now more important than ever to incorporate learning manipulatives to help strengthen their understanding of math concepts. This project has carefully chosen items to go along with the curriculum as well as items that support diverse learners. There are multiplication kits to help students who need support in that area. There are fraction kids to help students with huge concept in 5th Grade. There is also a Geometry kit which will help students in an area that doesn't get enough attention.
