Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade at a Title I School in the inner city. Our school population is changing this year due to redistricting. Due to the redistricting, our population of students will be 95% Latin American.
My students are inquisitive and enjoy learning!
They do have a lot to learn, however, as they are learning two languages, one in the classroom and one at home. I want to make sure that I am doing the best I can to teach them while they are with me during the day.
My Project
Using the Calendar Math Activity Program, the Pop and Add Games and the 3-D Magnetic Builders will help my students stay engaged in math activities at each of the stations because of each rotation.
At our school, we teach math in small groups and we need math activities that will keep our students interest during our math block.
Our students usually rotate three times during our math block. They meet with me, then they rotate to two other stations where they will complete the activities at those stations.
We encourage students to work the whole time during each of the rotations. With the 3-D Magnetic Builders, Pop & Add Games, and other activities I choose, my students should be able to build stamina and work the whole rotation!
