My students need math manipulatives, such as magnetic ten frame boards, to make math lessons an exciting, hands-on learning experience.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Albert Einstein said "Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas." I want my kindergarten students to experience math and problem solving in new and engaging ways so that they can see it's purpose and understand all the new concepts they are exposed to.
My Kindergarten students attend an inner-city neighborhood school built over 100 years ago.
They all receive free breakfast and lunch and for many of them, school is the only place where they hear English spoken. This does not prevent them from being eager learners, ready to explore the world around them. They are beginning to develop math skills and number concepts. I want this to be an exciting and engaging process that will encourage their curiosity and inspire number exploration.
My Project
Every day, we spend one hour working on math concepts. For five year old students, that one hour can seem like a lifetime! I try to present math concepts using hands-one materials that will excite the students, engage them in learning, and make them want to be an active participant in the lesson.
The ten frame boards and dry erase 100 grids will allow all students to participate in learning together and allow me to make a visual assessment of their understanding as we progress through a lesson. The number of the day pocket chart give students a chance to interact with number concepts daily in several unique ways.
Thank you for reading and considering my project.
Your generous donation will make learning math concepts an enjoyable and exciting activity for my young learners. It will encourage them to explore and solve problems and open up a world of mathematical possibilities for them.
