Help me give my students more hands-on learning activities for math!
I love using centers as a way to teach math (small group instruction with hand-on, active learning). My students learn best with manipulatives and purposeful play (games)!
My students are dreamers, hard-workers, and love learning despite any home life situation they might have. Some come to school hungry without having a meal the night before, and yet they manage to get their homework done. My students are heroes in my eyes. My kindergartners are so kind to one another, and genuinely care for others; I am so lucky to have the opportunity to inspire and hopefully create lifelong learners.
My goal in teaching is not only to inspire my young ones to value education but to value themselves.
Each child deserves to feel loved, special and empowered. Kindergarten is the BUILDING BLOCK, the FOUNDATION of their whole educational experience. If we cannot GRASP their love and curiosity for education, then we have failed them all; we have failed our future generations, leaders, Presidents...
My students deserve the BEST learning environment while at school, and our donors choose projects are helping that become a reality!
My Project
There are specific hands-on activities that I selected that go along with our math curriculum, and will help the students achieve and master the specific math standard in a fun, hands-on and meaningful way.
A lot of times, we tell students to "practice" in order to get better at a certain skill whether it be academically or physically.
How can we have our students practice the skills and lessons we teach them without having the necessary tools for them to learn and practice on?
The math games and manipulatives will help all my kindergarten students be able to reach their academic goal(s) in math this year.
