Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My goal is to provide my students with an engaging, interactive, and inspiring classroom. A room where students feel safe to try new things, build friendships, and gain comprehension and understanding of our state's standards.
My students enter the classroom each morning knowing that "Today Matters!" This is our school motto, and a statement my students and I truly embrace!
They attend an inner city public school, just a block away from the state's largest housing projects. 95% of our school's kiddos live in low income housing and receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges they may face outside our classroom walls, my students greet me each day with a smile! My students are the reason I teach!
My Project
"More regrouping?........" This is a complaint I hear often this time of year in 2nd grade! Regrouping is one of the trickiest concepts we conquer this year as 2nd graders! I am so eager to introduce the Hands-On Regrouping Addition and Subtraction games to my students! This will reenergize their curiosity about the subject! I will be able to provide more practice that my students will actually be engaged in!
Power Pens puts my students learning right in their hands!
In a previous project I was blessed to recieve 6 Power Pens to use during Guided Reading to practice letter sounds and phonics skills. My students would be thrilled to be able to use these magical pens during math as well! I have seen my students choose to quiz themselves during indoor recess with the Power Pens! What an amazing way to continue using this resource. During Math, a large portion of time is spent reteaching skills my students haven't mastered, this is done in small groups. The Power Pen Quiz Cards will allow skill practice to continue all around my room!
