This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of my favorite people in the world! They are smart, curious, funny, hard-working, and enthusiastic when it comes to their learning. We are located in an urban district comprised of many second language learners and students with specialized instruction. They bring their rich cultures and backgrounds to every lesson, which enhances the learning experience. Math is one of our most important subjects of the day and can be tedious and long.

I want to offer engaging centers with non-traditional materials so that students can practice their skills in groups with a variety of methods.

They are incredible thinkers, they just need opportunities and materials that inspire them to show their knowledge in more ways that just on paper and pencil.

By adding dice, dominoes, games, whiteboards and markers, we could set up multiple centers around the room for students to work in groups daily to support their learning in an engaging way. All of these items will help inspire my students as mathematicians and change the culture of the classroom by helping each of them become more confident in themselves through the process!
