This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, where 100% of my students receive free lunch, I see that they are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the various challenges they face, they still are an eager bunch that has the ultimate desire to learn. As their first teacher, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They don’t really have any support outside the classroom, and so I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure they are supported inside my classroom.
My Project
Included in this project math manipulatives and math center activities that the students would be able to work on independently. Each and every year we are offered a used math kit that we are able to use in our class however the manipulatives that are included in this are very dated and many of them go unused. I hate for them to go to waste, so I try my best and repurpose then. These new center activities will give my students extra practice and help their brains grow tremendously. In efforts to get consistent and newer math center work and manipulatives, I’d love for this project to be funded.
