This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to my class wanting a place of comfort, and student engagement. I serve students in the area of reading and math in a resource setting. My students require hands-on activities, lots of visual aids to help to increase knowledge of concepts, and assistive technology. I serve over 25 student with special needs, with exceptionalities ranging from Autism to Specific Learning Disabilities.
Planning lessons that are accompanied by crafts or projects, are what makes teaching exciting and rewarding for me.
Seeing the joy on their faces when they leave with a project in their hands, gives me "goosebumps". I want my students to leave my class, taking with them the necessary strategies and skills to use in the general education classroom. It is my continued goal to make learning fun again! It is always a pleasure to help my student reach their fullest potential!
My Project
Students in K-5 resource setting need to be able to grasp math foundation skills needed to achieve grade level standards in the general education setting. In all grades, students are expected to learn the base ten system. The "Hands-On Addition and Subtraction Regrouping Kits" will help my students visualize the concept. They will use number tiles to represent regrouping of a 2 and 3 digit equation. Students will also be able to use the "Snap & Slide Number Bonds" to represent addition and subtraction facts.
To help our environment, I believe in recycle and reusing paper!
So the "Reusable Write & Wipe Pockets", and Double-Sided Magnetic Write & Wipe Boards will help my students help in our efforts of helping our environment!
