My students need Math games and manipulatives to explore and develop math skills and concepts. Students learn best when they have concrete objects to represent abstract ideas.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first grade class will have 30 eager and energetic students. They are eager to learn and love hands-on activities and technology! My school is a K-8 elementary school in a large, urban, school district. My students come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and enter 1st grade with a wide range of abilities.
My students are so excited to be in first grade and are motivated to explore, create, play, and learn!
I incorporate a variety of learning strategies including group work, center activities, games, technology, and learning options to create a fun yet challenging classroom that allows all students to learn! My students want to do their best, and I would like to provide the best instruction and learning environment possible.
My Project
My students love hands-on activities! Games such as Bubble Pop, Plinko, Solve It! Subtraction, pattern block design cards, coin stamps, ten frame stamps and manipulatives will help my students explore a variety of math concepts while I am providing small group math instruction. Early foundational math skills help students master more advanced concepts.
These games and activities will allow my students to play and master math skills at their level.
My students are more engaged in play activities and learn through play. They need concrete examples of abstract math concepts. The best way to build confidence with math skills is through engaging activities that build foundational math skills.
