My Project

It’s important to recognize that the origin of math can be traced back to commerce. Place Value Disks, which look similar to coins, help to foster a conceptual understanding of this historical basis of math. In addition, students indirectly learn how to handle money, a helpful skill for real life.

These new sets of place value disks will help my students throughout multiple math units.

Our current set is too old, almost unusable, and is missing half. My students love to use the disks to help them learn their place value which will help them with learning how to add and subtract vertically.
