My students need materials such as glue sticks, construction paper, an easel pad, colored paper, etc., so that we may successfully complete the fun projects and activities we do in class to make Math engaging, interactive, and fun!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 8th graders are the best students in the Bronx! They represent a multicultural community of diverse learners.
My students are hard-working, engaged, eager and strong learners.
There is nothing they won't try! Many are gifted and talented and my goal is to keep them challenged.
A portion of my students are preparing to take the High School Common Core Algebra Regents while they're still in 8th grade! This would allow them to skip into advanced classes once they get to High School.
My Project
We are going to learn a lot about Math this year. Why not have some fun with it? My kids will be taking at least 2 years of math in one year (8th grade math AND Algebra... maybe a little Geometry too!) in order to graduate Middle School with some High School credits under their belts! There's a lot to cover, and whenever possible, I like to make the work engaging and interesting. We want STEM content to leap off the page and become as real and applicable as possible for our kids.
We play games almost every day, work on projects every week or two, and work collaboratively with our group mates daily.
When we play games, the dry erase materials enable students to solve problems in a way that the whole group can engage in. The colorful paper is used to create matching games, as well as for projects. My students create their own chapter books explaining the units we are looking for and they need glue sticks, colored paper and other materials to create them. We need chart paper to share out ideas when we work collaboratively, as well as to make anchor charts explaining different concepts.
My students are hard working, dedicated learners and I want to give them the absolute best. Thanks in advance for considering donating to this project in support of my Mathletes!
