Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a diverse group of students, all of whom are minorities. They are proud of their heritage and accepting of each other. My students are either native English speakers or native Spanish speakers, all learning both languages and both cultures!
They are strong individuals who are enthusiastic learners, hungry for academic and life experiences.
They like to have fun and enjoy learning through hand-on activities.
Our students come to school from every corner of the city, in some cases traveling an hour to and from home each day.
My Project
I am on an ongoing mission of finding different approaches to making math engaging and accessible for all of my students. I want to expand the number and type of resources (text books, practice books, flash cards, games, etc) available in my classroom to do so.
Bringing math to life through games and interactive stories is a wonderful way to engage young minds.
And having access to a variety of quality and colorful text books, such as "Go Math" and "My Math", and topic specific flash cards can help make learning new concepts and practicing new and old concepts accessible.
