My students are a lively bunch. They love hands-on activities and are so engaged whenever they have the chance to move around and experiment with their surroundings. They enjoy reading, creating, and discussing ideas in our classroom environment.
My students love learning and creating; they look forward to coming to school and participating in the classroom.
Many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. My students want a warm, welcoming environment at school where they feel safe to learn and create friendships.
My Project
I teach three rotations of second grade students math every day. In order to make math more engaging and fun for my students we have a math game rotation and we like to change up the math games every month.
This project will provide 80 second grade students access to a variety of math games that will foster a love for mathematics.
My hope is that by teaching my students that math can be fun, they will be excited to approach math problems and seek out creative ways to solve these problems.
These math games will liven up our math rotations, while the whiteboards will allow us to reuse math sheets rather than wasting paper. We house our math games in Ziploc baggies for easy access, and the whiteboard markers will ensure that every student has a writing tool during math time.
