I teach in Las Vegas in a school that serves K-5 students. My classroom is filled with fourth graders that come from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds. Not all of them have access to books or online literacy resources at home. Many speak a second language.
My fourth graders are full of energy.
We find happiness in learning about new things and each other. They love to read, create, and explore. I want to give my students opportunities to have the best chance for success.
My Project
Math centers are a time for students to use the skills that they have learned and apply them to different situations. The place value dice will help take a challenging concept and make it more accessible. Students will use them for identifying, ordering, and comparing numbers activities. The 24 card game will encourage friendly competition and motivate them to learn their math facts. The protractors will help with identifying geometric angles. Lastly, the wooden stacking blocks will provide students with many opportunities to practice a variety of mathematical skills through different types of questioning.
All learners learn in different ways.
These materials will provide students with various learning styles to demonstrate what they know. They will make math more enjoyable. With these items, I will be able to provide a learning environment that encourages creativity and is accessible to all learners.
