This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a dual language immersion classroom with thoughtful, hard-working fifth graders. We have created an incredible learning environment together in our math class. I see all sorts of math strategies being used and amazing collaboration in our space.

My students take pride in their work in math class.

They love trying out new strategies and finding what works for them. I am proud to be a support for them, but, in the end, am more proud when I see them owning their learning and working hard.

My Project

Like many others around the country, our school has closed indefinitely due to COVID-19. We are jumping into virtual learning and want to continue building up our math skills.

I want to send each child in my classroom a dry erase board and marker that they can use at home while they continue with their learning.

They have grown into amazing, independent learners already, and dry erase boards and markers are eco-friendly and make math work easy. These materials will be extremely helpful for all students who may not have supplies at home.
