Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are almost all English as a second language learner. They are from high poverty areas and often come to school without supplies. They often don't love math and it is my job to enrich that love of learning.

I try every day to break the barrier of what keeps them from loving math and learning by making engaging lessons full of technology.

7th grade math can be full of fun and make my students see a future that includes going to college. I hope to change their path and help them become the first college graduate in their family!

My Project

In a 21st century classroom, the sit and get technique does not work especially for a middle school student. My classroom is designed to help students learn at their own pace through a variety of stations. They will use classworks, eclass, khan academy, emaze, just to name a few.

It is my hope that a couple of those stations this year will be used to engage students in real-world content where students of low economic status can have access daily access to technology through Chromebooks.

This project will help change student attitudes towards math and math careers. Students need to learn to love math. It is not just a textbook and memorization subject. The chromebooks will help them see math can be engaging and fun.
