The three classrooms that would benefit from this grant are an academic support classroom and two fourth grade classrooms. Our students are high energy, extremely motivated by technology, and love to try new things. Our district is innovative and has adopted a new reading curriculum this year. We are in our second year of a new math curriculum. Our building is focused on incorporating technology that ensures our students' success in the digital world that they are growing up in.
My Project
This request is for the Math Expressions Osmo Math Classroom Package. In this package it includes 6 Osmo Genius kits, math manipulatives specific to the curriculum, and a subscription to use Osmo with their curriculum.
Using the Osmo Genius Kit allows my students to see math as fun and yet challenging.
It gives them motivation to continue to push themselves to see what they can do. With this kit, students get to see math as a hands-on activity.
The Words game in the Osmo kit allows students to challenge themselves with phonics and get excited to use the materials to make themselves better spellers and therefore readers. Already I have seen students use this program and they want to continue using it every day. They are excited to show that they know how to spell words that they didn't when they started.
