Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." This quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. sums up what I strive to instill in my students each day.

My students are eager learners, passionate and curious.

They learn best through hands-on, interactive approaches. They love to laugh. For some, school is the best part of their day as it provides the stability and care they may not receive at home. Despite the challenges they face as a result of widespread poverty, they have the potential to change the world.

My Project

While my school's library contains a vast selection of great children's literature, the decor of the room is anything but inviting. The walls are empty, and the shelves are in need of some pizzazz to entice the children. There are no decorations that stimulate a child's imagination.

When students walk into a library, they should enter a world where their imaginations can run wild.

Their creative senses should be stimulated. They should be eager to explore the wonderful places the books can take them.

I will use the items in this project to create a haven for students' imaginations. The room will become colorful and welcoming. The walls will contain quotes from students' favorite books. The book character stuffed animals will be hugged as students read books about those characters. These items will turn a room full of books into a room full of magic.
