Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are vivacious 6th graders who come from diverse backgrounds – both economically and culturally. Every day, I greet them at my door with a smile to begin our day, and they come into my classroom eager to learn, regardless of their background situations. I know that my students can learn in spite of the roadblocks that life has put in front of them. Many of my students have to deal with problems at home and things I can’t ever imagine dealing with as a kid. I make sure to establish relationships with my students to learn what they’re going through in their lives, and we work together to power through any problems together.
My classroom is a warm and inviting classroom that shows how I value respect for learning and respect for each other.
My students and I work hard to make our classroom environment one that balances hard work, friendship, camaraderie, and sometimes just plain fun! I hope to instill the love of learning in my students so that they can become life long learners and contribute to society in the 21st Century. It is my hope that all of my students are successful.
My Project
By having these tablets in my classroom, it will be a tremendous gift to my students - giving them an opportunity to use them for research on special projects and iMovies. My students love using technology on a daily basis. I like to integrate technology into all of my curricular areas of study, but with little technology, it is difficult.
It's important that our students have technology opportunities to further their future career goals into the 21st Century.
For me to help my students become life long learners, they will need individual technology skills. Having some tablets in the room will give my students the freedom to individualize their own learning and work at their own pace. This will, in turn, carry over into their future years of high school and career development, leading into the future leaders we hope them to become some day.
