Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We had BrainPop Jr. last year and the students loved it! It captivates them. The videos are just long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep student attention sustained. Videos cover all subject areas and this Junior version is geared specifically toward the primary grades.
We are a Title I school.
Our students are ethnically diverse, and many come from economically disadvantaged families. The students are very sweet but, like many students these days, it can be a challenge to really engage them and help them absorb new information. Our school is a fabulous, supportive community with lots of happy kiddos!
My Project
Our class will use the videos to support our curriculum. They are also the perfect length to use for snippets of time between other activities, and to support other work we do in the classroom. There are often short periods of time here and there, and this subscription will allow us to maximize our time. I even envision our daily pack-up time becoming much more efficient because students who are done packing can come to the carpet to watch the videos. Those that are finishing up will still be listening in and learning. So, we will use this subscription to view content-area material at a variety of different times and on a regular basis.
Students learn when they are engaged.
BrainPop Jr. is highly engaging. It is animated, but covers content area material. Students love the cartoon style and all the while they are learning! This subscription will help us make the most of our school day.
