My students need 1 HP Stream Laptop and 1 eBeam Wireless Complete system to turn our drab old whiteboard into a state of the art smartboard system.

I am very grateful to work with such a fantastic group of fourth graders. There are more than six different languages spoken in my classroom alone. These happy, curious, and eager students walk into my classroom every day willing to do their best despite some of the hardships that are happening right outside their front door and in their daily lives.
Our school is an urban public school that services over 800 students from Pre-k to 4th grade.
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 85% of our students receiving free lunch or reduced lunch. Many of our students receive food backpacks each weekend. We offer several clubs and organizations like GirlStart, Sister to Sister, Brother to Brother, Dare to Dream, G.A.P. and Young Leaders of Tomorrow just to name a few. These extracurricular activities promote and encourage academic success as well as foster positive social skills and build meaningful relationships. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the Houston metro area with students who speak a variety of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics, as well.
The ability to have a whiteboard turn into a smartboard will allow my students what I am doing when I am introducing a math concept. But the most important part to me is that it will provide a to place for them to share their thinking visually with me and their peers. They would have the opportunity to come to the whiteboard to work out the problems and for me to easily see where any mistakes were made in their math. The other problem with locating a dry erase marker would be solved because they seem to disappear into thin air. Even though they are great about trying to locate another marker, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction form either myself or other students. By having the eBeam Wireless Complete system and a dedicated laptop to connect to lost minutes of instruction could be recovered and focusing issued would be diminished, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
