Thanks so much for checking out my project. I am currently a 4th grade teacher in Charlotte, NC. My students are passionate about learning and pride themselves on being successful. They all come from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and it takes a variety of resources to meet their varying academic needs. Some of my students do not have the means to access the necessary school materials. They all have great potential to be extremely successful if people believe in them! My students love hands on learning, projects, and getting the opportunity to collaborate with each other. It's amazing to see what happens when their minds come together!
My Project
My students deserve the best! This includes basic classroom supplies and resources to provide them the most well thought out and productive lessons. As stated, most of my students do not have the financial means to purchase classroom supplies themselves. Things such as organizational tools, laminating papers for reuse of materials, anchor charts, and incentives for good behavior are all things that benefit their learning. Any donations that are contributed to our classroom are extremely helpful and will go directly to students and lessons taught in the classroom.
Classroom supplies are one of the major things that benefit my students but I also would like to try something new in the classroom this year - flexible seating with a rug, cushions, and stools.
Flexible seating is also a great resource for students to foster learning and working collaboratively with one another. Flexible seating has many benefits to learning such as allowing students to have choice, collaborate with each other in a comfortable way and helps students stay focused by allowing them to move while learning. When 4th graders are given the change to experience flexible seating there is a noticeable increase in engagement, work ethic, and investment in their work.
