My students need a document camera and a Time for Kids subscription.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students have made great goals for themselves this year that include to be at our above grade level by the end of the year. One challenges for my students in reaching this goal is a lack of technology. Another challenge is a lack of non fiction reading material that is interesting to them.
My students are a great group of 4th graders that have already captured my heart .
I am teaching in an urban school where students face many challenges, but they are learning to be resilient learners. They are creative, energetic, and eager to learn about the world around them.
The document camera will be used so I can model to students various learning strategies and better teach them concepts essential to being successful as a 4th grade student. The document camera will make learning easier for the students because they will be better able to see and process the information being presented. The Time for Kids magazines will be greatly beneficial in my literacy centers. My students are currently struggling with non-fiction reading concepts, and the articles in Time for Kids would offer them interesting, relevant information to help them learn. The pictures and stories from places and people around the world in Time for Kids would be an asset to my students as limited in their experiences.
The donations will help them not only learn the material they need to know to be successful in the 4th grade, but it will help them learn what they are good at and passionate about.
