My students need flexible seating. My students often have a hard time sitting still throughout the day. Flexible seating helps make learning comfortable.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third graders love to learn despite the challenges that they face on a daily basis. During the school day, my students are creative thinkers, problem solvers, mathematicians, scientists, readers, friends, explorers, and learners. Many of the students are classified as ESE students and receive additional supports in our inclusion classroom.
After the school day ends, many of my students face situations like homelessness, poverty, foster care, divorced parents, frequent relocation.
All students at my Title 1 School receive free breakfast and lunch, and school is a safe haven for many of my students. My classroom is a community of love and happiness.
My students are amazing and they deserve the world!
My Project
Classrooms with flexible seating give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and help them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. Since implementing flexible classrooms, schools have noticed that:
-Their students' grades have improved.
-Their students seem happier and more engaged.
-Their students are participating more and having more invigorating conversations.
My project is set out to make my class better for students who already have a hard time learning. Flexible seating can actually enhance my students' learning process. Flexible seating will give my students a better way to spend the long days in our classrooms. My students are amazing children who are ready and willing to learn. I just want to give them the best possible chance to succeed and flexible seating will help me do just that.
