Hello to the generous and caring Donors Choose community. No matter which classrooms you choose to support today, I would like to sincerely thank you for your support of public education in the United States! Your dedication to educators, students and families is admirable and the impact of your support is powerful and transformative.
Our school community is filled with dynamic, creative and bright people yet resources are scarce and we need all of the support we can get to combat our struggles and get our students what they need to develop and succeed.
Currently, my students are all scholars of biology and we have extremely limited supplies to use as we delve into this world. We need to change that. Our community is struggling with COVID-19, poverty and other very serious issues and we don't typically have access to the tools and resources that we need. We are in a large urban area filled with high levels of need and, while wonderful people wish to be of service, they just cannot help all of those who require assistance. It is my hope that we can find donors here on this platform and we can develop a community of support.
Hello to all reading along today. I hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe during the pandemic. I am grateful that you are taking the time to look through DonorsChoose.org for projects and classrooms to support. While I do hope that you see the value in our project and choose to contribute and/or share our link, no matter which projects you choose to support, I am thrilled that you have chosen to rally around public education in our nation. Thank you.
Today, I am asking for your help with getting a set of wireless lavalier microphones and a video rig set so I can virtually take my students along with me for lab studies and field work.
The pandemic is making it impossible to safely meet in person so all of our work will be virtual for the foreseeable future. Biology should be a very interactive and hands-on course and distance learning complicates that a bit. I have decided to take the students on virtual field outings so they can still participate in intriguing studies that will challenge them. Additionally, I will conduct labs in the classroom and have the students watch and participate as much as possible from their own home learning spaces. The lavalier microphones will assist me with making sure that the students can properly hear me as I go about my demonstrations and field studies. The video rig will allow me to create stable, clear and easy to see and hear videos and livestreams. With your help, I will be able to get the supplies necessary to create a dynamic, engaging, enriching and exciting biology class community and I am deeply grateful for your support.
