Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all vary in ethnicity, home language, and socioeconomic status. We have over 40% of students coming from a low socioeconomic family. I have some English Language Learners whose speaking ability in the English language vary. A common thread is that they come to school eager and ready to learn. They are filled with an intense desire to succeed and excel. Many struggle to get supplies and materials needed for class but despite these challenges, they persevere through adversity to achieve their goals.
My Project
My students come to school eager and ready to learn but our supplies are limited. I always have my students create models or diagrams they have read about. They will use these glue guns to make 3D models that can stand alone.
We also use various materials to make cell city projects.
A cell can be compared to a city! Each part of the cell has its own function or purpose. The parts of a cell can be compared to the parts of a city based on their similar purpose. We are also studying earthquakes and my students are learning about the engineering behind earthquake resistant structures. They will use the glue guns and glue sticks to put their models together. l am requesting additional glue sticks because some of these projects are elaborate and detailed.
