This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach twenty eager-to-learn kindergarteners in a low socioeconomic school. More than half of my class receives free lunch.
My students show up every day excited to be at school and ready to learn.
Unfortunately, many of them do not have traditional learning materials at home that foster learning through creativity and play. I need your help updating the materials in my classroom. Due to economic strains, our classrooms are suffering. Without your help, it is impossible for me to purchase these things.
My Project
This project will cover a variety of classroom learning experiences, including math and literacy instruction. The dry erase spinner will be used for whole group lessons to practice things like sight words and word families. The library pockets, bulletin board letters, stars, markers, and velcro will be used to improve our calendar board by adding vocabulary and weather sections. The grouping pencils and dry erase dice will be used for math and literacy centers.
I was recently introduced to different ways an Echo Dot can be used in the classroom and am so excited to use it with my students.
The Echo Dot can be used to help students check their work, research a topic, decode a word they are having trouble reading, and spell words that are hard for them. It would only be used for specific learning opportunities, like writing a story or reading with a partner.
