This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It's a new school year, and I will have very active and energetic kindergartener students that hopefully will enjoy learning and creating. We have a wide range of cultures and socioeconomic households in our community. Because of this, many students receive free lunch, therefore, making it difficult to have the income to purchase books, resources, classroom materials, and everyday items. We have approximately 85% free and reduced price lunch students, which also qualifies us for a grant for free lunch for all students.
My Project
Wow! Look at all of these reading kits and math games my class is requesting. These items are needed because I, the teacher, am responsible for the center activities and manipulatives within my classroom. All of these materials will be used for small group, teacher-led instruction, OR small group center rotations (independent work for my students).
These games and manipulatives will help the students feel successful and independent because they can check their own work while they play.
I am hoping that with a full resource "manipulative library," my students will excel, soar, and learn above and beyond the required kindergarten standards.
