This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The Governor's Village STEM Academy is a brand new school for students in pre-k through eighth grade. We are the largest PreK-8 school in the state of North Carolina and serve over 2,100 students from all over Charlotte.
This year, we are a school of "Innovative Trailblazers, Pioneers of the Impossible." Our student body is made up of diverse cultures, economic status and ability levels.
It is our goal to eliminate any "roadblocks" that are standing their way. We are affording students opportunities and making dreams into realities. These students are eager to learn and it has been my dream come true teaching them.
My Project
This is our first year having a violin class at The Governors' Village STEM Academy! We have been so lucky to receive many of the materials we needed from community partners and donors like you. Now that' we've been playing a few months, our instruments are showing some signs of all the love we've been giving them.
The materials we need will keep our entire class playing without missing a beat!
We are in need of some replacement strings for our 3/4 violins to keep everyone actively making music. We also need some peg compound to keep our pegs in place, allowing the instruments to stay in tune longer. The last request is for replacement bridges... because if you fail to plan, you plan to fail!
