Help students need to be active, motivated, and engaged in their science class!
I teach 6th grade in an urban school for high ability students in Indiana.
Although most of my students are gifted in math, reading, and writing, many come to me with few experiences and little background knowledge in science. When they come to my science class their faces light up. They love science, and they love to share their learning with others!
My Project
Last year I began using Interactive Science Journals in my classroom as a way to integrate language arts, writing, and science. My students question, make observations and conclusions, and document it all in their journals. The journals help them to take ownership of their learning. I'd like to take it a step further. With your donation of a digital camera, SD card, and document camera, my students will be able to take pictures of themselves and their peers doing science, capturing their excitement for learning in a photo that can be kept well beyond the sixth grade. They will include their photos in their interactive science journals. Then students will be able to use the document camera to share their journal entries with the entire class. This will surely enrich our science discussions!
Please donate this technology to help enrich the science curriculum for my students!
My sixth graders will love taking pictures of themselves engaging in science activities, and even more, they will be so excited to share their work with others. My goal is to make science meaningful and memorable for all of my students!
