Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my 24 first graders come to school full of energy and excited about what the day may bring. They love reading, science, hands-on activities, and art. Our students are in a school district with high poverty and challenging communities. They come from households where their parents support their education as best as they can. Our charter school offers a K-8 Spanish dual immersion program. The Spanish speaking students are able to learn in their native language and slowly begin to master English, while our native English speakers are learning how to speak Spanish fluently.
They are always ready to learn something new and show what they know!
Their energy is contagious and their curiosity is endless. It is amazing to see how far a 1st grader can change and progress in one school year.
My Project
First graders never run out of wonderful ideas. Our science-based approach only develops this creativity even further by allowing students to imagine the life of a herbivore or carnivore in the jungles or deserts of our planet.
With the Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine and tools my students will be able to create habitats that come to life all over our walls and classroom.
Six and seven year old students have an endless imagination and would love to see their ideas come to life right before their eyes. This technology is merely a tool to convey and share what they are learning and processing through science.
