Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year, NYC public schools will have hybrid learning, and remote learning for families who opted for such. At some point, we anticipate that students will return to the class full time and when that time comes, we are unsure of how safe exactly school will be regarding Covid-19.
I will have a total of twelve students in a special education class learning from home!
All of my students come from culturally diverse families and low socioeconomic households. My students may not have access to the most basic resources outside of school; therefore, it is important to me that I use all of the resources available to me as an educator to gather what they need.
My Project
The materials for this project are for different purposes. We will have in class learning part time. With so many health and safety concerns, acquiring materials like the lap desks and bins that are easy to disinfect and store is a must right now! Other supplies on this list is to help create students who do not have tech at home, to be able to print all the resources they need before going home for the other three days of at home remote learning. Other things to consider is that during remote learning, children may not be at home, but at a sitter's or other child care center. They will need to carry around supplies as well. To minimize the load, the ink, lamination sheets, Ziploc and folders are to prepare remote learning packets for these children.
