The 125 2nd graders come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a variety of needs such as ELL students, students with special needs, and students that come from challenging home environments.
We believe in outragous love to try and reach all students, especially those special challenges.
We believe in having a strong home to school connection and having meaningful, engaging, and differentiated homework for all students. We feel that by providing the materials to make math homework fun, it will not only impact student achievement, but also the students' attitude towards math.
Remember doing math homework when you were younger? Doing worksheet after worksheet? This year we are focusing on implementing MEANINGFUL and ENGAGING homework for our 2nd grade students. We are asking for supplies such as playing cards that have a math concept related to them (such as addition Rummy), foam dice, and counters to play math games that we will print. Having games as well as a website we created will bring back the fun in math homework!
We believe family time is valuable, so we are making math homework interactive, meaningful, and fun for families.
Thank you for considering donating. This would benefit the kids in my classroom this year and also for years to come!
