My students need a reed that will be reliable and will last them for their entire middle school band experience!

My Students

I am the band director in a rural middle school located in the Piedmont region of NC. We are comprised of a diverse population of students.

Students have the CHOICE to join my band class in 6th grade regardless of their socio-economic status, etc.

My classes are not ability based, so there are students that range from emerging to proficient musicians in one class period. My students pride themselves in both their musical ability and their drive to do their best!

My Project

For woodwind musicians, a good reed is key to making a quality sound on their instrument. This reed that we are working toward getting for all of our 6th graders is both quality and durable. Instead of students having to purchase a $40.00 box of reeds every other month or so, this plastic reed will last them all through middle school and will not need to be replaced.

This will ensure that the students can always have something to play and will not make their cost for band go up!
