My Students

My students are from the rural Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They come from a variety of financial backgrounds with over half qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. The high poverty prevents some students from having school supplies needed to be successful.

Despite the challenges these students face I have the expectation that all students can be successful.

My students range from advanced students taking high school courses in middle school to academically challenged students who are taking remedial classes to improve their understanding.

My Project

We will be using the TI-30XS calculators to make graphing complex functions more accessible by using the table function. The use of this function helps to reduce the number of calculation errors that stand in the way of many at-risk students. We also use the data and stat functions to reduce calculation error on large data sets.

Calculators will stay in the classroom so ALL students can have access to this amazing tool.

Having these calculators available will help the students grow academically regardless of their financial or academic situation. All students deserve the ability to be successful in the classroom.
