I teach in a low income school district with 60-65% of the students on free and reduced lunch. They come from all kinds backgrounds with all different experiences. Keeping the desire to love learning throughout their academic career is crucial to me. Sometimes the standards we need to cover are not the most fascinating topics for young children.
No matter what I ask of them, they are all willing to try.
Because of this, I try very hard to make learning fun and interesting.
My Project
Our school has recently adopted parts of the Jolly Learning Curriculum. However, these are indeed only parts that I am trying to make whole. In order to teach this program successfully I will need the workbooks (teacher and student), big books, songs and access to the software games. This is a program that has proven tremendous academic growth in schools all over the world. I have received training and begun implementing the phonics program in my classroom with great success.
Students have found a joy in learning letter sounds and grammar.
The items I have requested will allow me to use Jolly Grammar in its entirety.
My hope is children will continue to enjoy learning in a way that is fun and easy! Thank you!
