This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are incredible! My students are in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. They are curious, inquisitive, hard-working, and dedicated. All of my students have Individualized Educational Plans because they have been diagnosed with a disability. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. All of my students come from high poverty areas, and they all love coming to school. My students are brilliant individuals who learn differently than their peers. These students will be successful, and it's my job to create learning opportunities that ensure this.
My Project
Research shows that when students are excited about their learning they are more prone to engage in the learning and remember the learning from one scenario to another. I'd like to make both our reading and math flashcards more exciting for my students. Right now we print and copy our various flashcards on plain white paper and put them in ziplock baggies. I'd like to get this fun paper to help excite the students and the durable envelopes to ensure our cards don't fall out of the baggie or get mixed up.
Alfred Mercier says, "What we learn in pleasure we never forget." My students are sponges who love to learn but learn differently than their peers with their special learning needs.
I truly think these materials will help me teach them, help them learn, and help close the achievement gap between them and their typically developing peers!
