I am blessed to teach 12 first and second grade students. They come from various backgrounds and experiences and my job is to learn about them, and support them the best I can. They also vary in academic levels. I love learning with them each day!
Education needs to fit the needs of the student, not the teacher.
I try to get to know my students so that I can figure out what makes them interested and engaged in learning. I am alway changing my approach to teaching in order to better serve my students.
I am using DonorsChoose.org to find fun, engaging items that will support their learning.
Most students in my class struggle with fine motor skills. This can be frustrating and lead to students giving up on their work. I am always looking for ways for students to practice in an engaging way.
Students love to use "special supplies" in the classroom; it makes them feel important and value their work.
Special whiteboards with lines will support their handwriting. The dry erase pockets will give them a fun place to record their work. Fun games including the Avalanche Fruit Stand Game will give them extra practice without it feeling like work, while building their fine motor skills. These materials will be exiting and fun for my students.
