My school is located in the inner Sunset district of San Francisco, where English is the second language for almost half of the students. Fifty percent of our school population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch.
As a middle school teacher, I strive to keep learning fun, challenging, interesting, and relevant.
My students come from all areas in San Francisco with eager, creative, and curious minds. They are motivated to do well and they enjoy hands-on activities to enrich their learning and understanding.
My Project
As we are almost halfway into this school year in distance learning, I've relied heavily on supplementing the curriculum with activities from teacherspayteachers.com. Teachers from all over the country create fun, interactive activities and sell their lessons. My students have benefitted greatly from these activities.
The gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers will provide enriching supplemental activities to solidify students' understanding of the math and science concepts we are learning in class.
Additionally, to encourage more participation in my virtual classes, individual dry erase boards and markers will allow every student to actively engage in math and science activities. I will be able to see each of my students respond to questions when they write on the boards and hold them up to the screen.
There are many challenges to teaching online and this will help make teaching and learning a little more easier.
