My students need hands-on, interactive materials for use during our Literacy block. They need Help-Yourself Book Boxes, Little Beanbag Seats, folder games and other interactive materials.
Young children learn best when they are actively engaged in their learning environment. This is especially true for children who are struggling or those who are learning the English language.
I teach first grade in a school with a diverse population of students.
Over the years, our school has noticed an influx of English Language Learners, students from low socio-economic status, and students with specific learning disabilities. I have 22 students in my class with a range of learning styles and abilities who would benefit greatly from hands-on, interactive learning games and materials.
My Project
I am requesting materials to supplement the first grade curriculum that will promote a fun and engaging learning environment for my students. These materials will support the children's learning of important skills necessary for their reading success. Students will be able to practice literacy skills such as phonics, syllabication, vocabulary, and comprehension in a fun and hands-on way.
These materials will enhance my student's learning and provide fun and engaging resources to implement during Word Work and small group literacy instruction.
